A reason to dance, a reason to smile.

November 26, 2017

Are you looking for a fun, sexy new hobby that might just transform your life? Then you may want to consider Latin dancing. Bachata dancing is a popular form of social dance that originated in the Dominican Republic, and has grown in the USA. The music is melodic, and will captivate you.

Have you been watching Dancing With The Stars, or So You Think You Can Dance and watched the Latin Dancing. If you’ve ever thought it would be fun to learn how to dance like that, then I encourage you to start learning how to Bachata today.

1. Latin dancing is a full-body aerobic workout. Burn calories, tone your muscles and work on your core – no gym required! Every time I go for a health check, they ask how much exercise I do (including walking) and if I am going out dancing 3 – 4 a week, my answer is 12 – 20 hours. Given the idea is to achieve half an hour a day of physical activity – one night out and my quota is done.

2. It’s a great way to meet people. All ages are welcome and encouraged to dance, and it’s never too late to start – our students range from Uni students to parents of adult children. Latin dancing is a great way to break your daily routine and meet lots of new people. Trust me, it beats grinding people in a noisy club or getting drunk at the bar.

3. It relieves stress! The physical activity, the music, the camaraderie—they all add up to an environment where you can let loose! Movement to music is one of the most ancient natural stress relievers. “ It’s a mind and body high that nothing can match,” Milova says.

4. If you like traveling, then you will LOVE Latin dancing. Whether you like exploring the Americas, or you enjoy visiting Europe or Asia, in whatever city you find yourself in, you will likely find a Latin Dance club. Latin dancing provides you an instant connection with people in cities around the world – even when you don’t speak the language. It’s a great way to meet locals when travelling, not just other travelers.

These are just a few reasons why you should start Latin dancing. Bachata dancing is Salsa and Street Latin dancing at its best. The slower pace of Bachata makes it easy to learn, yet slower dances are difficult to master so there is always something new to learn for everyone. You can find us teaching Bachata Dance Classes in Melbourne every Tuesday night, check out our classes page for more details on Bachata in Melbourne. The best bit, the social night is FREE!.

If you are a dancer, tell us why you started? And if you are yet to become a dancer, what is holding you back?
